    The body of Christ, wrapped in a fine linen cloth, is taken down from the cross byJoseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus, one standing on a ladder, the other standing on the ground and supporting his legs. Mary Magdalene kneels on the ground lifting her arms towards Christ, while St John supports the body of the Virgin Mary.
