Juliette Drouet letter to Victor Hugo
- Original object type: Artefact
- Title: Juliette Drouet letter to Victor Hugo
-
Description:
She could not write a letter in the morning as she was too busy. She said she made a good guess about the election of the new academician, Nisard (1806-1888) - a fierce enemy of the Romantics - to fill the seat left vacant by the death of Chateaubriand. Dated Thursday, 4pm. Nisard was however only elected in 1850, so Juliette either made a mistake in the date of the letter, or incorrectly reported some rumours.
