Letter to an unnamed British man, in which Hugo says that he asked the audience (presumably during a banquet) to cheers at him to praise his noble behaviour in defending Garibaldi. Hugo then makes some allegoric lines on their respective citizenship. The letter was written at Hauteville House, Guernsey.
