    This is a copy of the first printed edition of Euclid, whose work formed the basis for the study of geometry for over 2,000 years. In this edition, the printer Erhard Ratdolt, notable for his finely engraved initials and borders, included over 400 of what were the first geometrical diagrams to appear in print. It was given to the Library by Sir Michael Sadler, Vice-Chancellor from 1911 to 1923.
