    Anonymous manuscript lecture notes from anatomical lectures and surgical observations. The lectures were reputedly delivered by the surgeon Sir Charles Bell (1774-1842), with an inscription in pencil on p.i.

    The volume is paginated, with text mainly on the rectos only and some diagrams drawn on versos. The anatomical lectures are between pp.1-110, and are dated January 1822 on the first page. Notes on 'surgical observations', undated, between pp.110-174. The notes mention a 'Mr Hunter' on p. 1 [presumably John Hunter (1728-1793), surgeon].

    The topics of the surgical observations include: aneurysms, hernia, tourniquet, injuries of the brain and head, amputations, tumours, fractured bones and wounds, and necrosis.

    Watermarks dated 1819-1821 on pp. i, 5 and 14 respectively, and pp.175-182 are blank.
