Source of the prayers in MS Roth 51,vii: The title on folio 2r states that the prayers were copied from Aharon Berekhyah ben Mosheh mi-Modinah's 'Sefer maʿavar Yaboḳ' folio 50r (see MS Roth 51,vii, folio 2r and above content note). The editor of the prayer anthology probably used the edition of Sefer maʿavar Yaboḳ which was printed in Amsterdam in 1732. The prayers copied from 'Sefer maʿavar Yaboḳ' are put into a different sequence in MS Roth 51,vii; after the prayers copied from Maʿavar Yaboḳ' (Amsterdam 1732) folio 50r to 50v, prayers follow which are to be found there on folio 49r to 50r, and thereafter comes one copied from folio 51v. This is followed by the prayers for Rosh ha-Shanah and Yom Ḳipur which are in the Amsterdam edition on folio 52r to 53r. The excerpts end then with a prayer copied from folio 50v to 51v.

Except for the prayers to be recited on the cemetery on the evening of Rosh ha-Shanah and Yom Ḳipur (see MS Roth 51,vii, folio 8v–12r), almost all prayers in MS Roth 51,vii are specifically defined to be recited on the graves of certain sages and kabbalists; ahead of the prayer אנא ה' האל הגדול is, for example, stated ''[תפילת] השכבה למכהר''ר נתנאל סיגרי ולמכהר''ר נתנאל לוי, ולמכהר''ר שמשון באסאן''(folio 3r–v). Roth indicates in his description of MS Roth 51,vii that all sages named in the small prayer anthology are buried in the cemetery of Cento, Italy. This could be verified in regard to Raphael Immanuel ben Abraham Hai Ricchi,1688-1743.

State of text: Overall rather well preserved thin white paper; some staining in the last folios. Watermark visible in folio 1. Set-off from folio 1r is visible on the paste-down attached to the wrapper's right side.

This means that the 12 single NLI records dedicated to MS Roth 51 are describing the textual units it contains and not the codicological ones. In Davis's Handlist the descriptions of MS Roth 51,ii and 51,vii are intermingled (probably because both manuscripts are containing prayers for recital in the cemetery).
