Donkey used for carrying milk to the village from the hillside, outside a stone barn at West End Farm, Castle Bolton ( Wensleydale). Mr. Bostock, the donkey's owner, attaches milk cans to a home-made pack saddle worn by the donkey. Donkeys were once also used in this area as pack animals for the lead mines. Manure cart visible in background. Mounted on Photo File card with LAVC/PHO/P1574. With typed note.
