Description:
Donkey used for carrying milk to the village from the hillside, outside a stone barn at West End Farm, Castle Bolton ( Wensleydale). The donkey wears a home-made pack saddle, onto which milk cans have been attached. Donkeys were once also used in this area as pack animals for the lead mines. Mounted on Photo File card with LAVC/PHO/P1573. With typed note.
