Before the introduction of mechanical transport this was the most popular way of carrying fodder to sheep in high pastures during winter. The creel is light and easy to carry. It is laid out flat and filled with loose hay or cut bales. The two ends are then brought upwards and tied securely with a loose rope attached to one of the bows. When secured, the creel can be carried on the shoulders.
