Written on back: "One of 2 halves Chinese panel to go down centre of door give to Miss Mabel Vernon (later Mrs Duxbury) late 1944 on a thank you for invisibly mending a tear in a brand new tweed skirt (caught on a nail in a stile) whilst she was junior of 2 Domestic Science & Needlework teachers at Barnsley Girls High School by the grateful mother of a colleague."
