    18th century engraved bookplate of Thomas, Earl of Strafford pasted on reverse of title page from History of the Royal Family (1713). Bookplate depicts gryphon and lion bearing Wentworth family crest of three lion heads on chevron, with crown above. Motto of Order of the Garter 'Honi soit qui mal y pense' inscribed on buckled banner and Wentworth family motto 'en dieu est tout' on banner on plinth below.

    Transcription: His EXCELLENCY, The Right Honourable THOMAS Earl of STRAFFORD, Vifcount [Viscount] Wentworth, of Wentworth Woodhoufe [Woodhouse], and of Stainborough, Baron of Raby, Newmarch, and Overfley [Oversley], Her Majefty's Ambafsador [Majesty's Ambassador] Extraordinary, and Plenipotentiary to the States General of ye United Provinces, and alfo [also] at the Congrefs [Congress] at Utrecht; Coloner of Her Majefty's [Majesty's] own Royal Regiment of Dragoons, Lieutenant General of all Her Forces, Firft [First] Lord of the Admiraltry of Great Britain and Ireland, one of ye Lords of Her Majeftys moft [Majesty's Most] Honourable Privy Council; and Knight of the moft [most] Noble Order of ye Garter. 1712
