Description:
Mr. M. Horner of Buckden branding sheep horns in a field at Cray ( Langstrothdale). Mr. Horner stands inside the area into which the sheep have been penned, holds the head of a sheep against a wooden fence, and burns the registered brand of the sheep owner into the horn. A metal bucket, filled with small pieces of wood, set alight, and used to heat the branding implement, can be seen in the foreground.
