[Side 1] Mrs. Bailey talks about living conditions in past, briefly describes grandfather's work as coal merchant, discusses low wages and living standards, reflects on debt and regular sight of bailiffs, recalls Club walks at Whitsuntide and other village festivities, attended school aged 2 to 10 then went into domestic service, brief description of father's work as carrier to Leicester, Lutterworth and Hinckley markets, describes baking bread in communal oven. [Side 2] Harry tells a couple of anecdotes about his work as haulier, describes taking load of bricks to Scunthorpe but road was blocked by 'rulley' [= horse-drawn waggon], recalls an incident delivering 'seed taties' [= seed potatoes] from Ferriby Sluice to Brigg, describes horse falling in river at Broughton Bridge, subsequent rescue and overnight stay with farmer in Castlethorpe, horse had recovered by following morning so Harry walked her home.
