[Side 1] Fred gives local names for parts of 'shippon' [= cowshed] incl. 'settlestone' [= curb-stone at end of drain], 'boosehead', 'boskin', 'skelboose' [= different types of partition between stalls], 'baulk' [= beam] and 'mowstead' [= hayloft]. [Side 2] Fred talks briefly about wintering cattle and describes parts of 'lea' [ = scythe] incl. 'grass-nail' [= attachment joining blade to handle], 'strickle' [= greased/sanded wooden implement used to sharpen scythe] and 'bullstone' [= stone used to sharpen scythe], recalls brother's expertise at mowing by hand.
