[Side 1] George describes his first experiences as lead miner, compares lack of interest among young miners now and in past, expresses concern at lack of awareness of lead mining terminology, incl. distinction between vein lead and flat lead, describes typical daily routine and workload. [Side 2] George discusses changes in nature of farming locally, explains how individual smallholdings have merged into single farms, laments loss of traditional practices, incl. use of moss in 'midden' [= muck heap] and regular removal and re-use of 'yeddle' [= cow's urine collected in 'yeddle-hole' in cow-shed and added to manure]; brief description of death of colleague in mine incident in 1916.
