    [Side 1] Albert talks about his schooldays, describes eccentric schoolmaster 'caving' about [= dancing awkwardly] betwen desks talking to himself, eventually could not cope singlehandedly with 85 children so was sent to 'lile' [= little] school in Blencow and new schoolmaster from Skelton appointed, recalls incident when new schoolmaster made him stay behind after school for fighting with classmate over rubber, schoolmaster gave him 'yan on t' lug' [= boxed his ears], 'brayed' [= beat] him repeatedly and made him do lines. [Side 2] Albert finishes story of detention at school (continued from side 1), discusses work on various farms as hired labourer, describes courtship with 'lass' [= girl] in domestic service locally and proposing to her to stop her leaving village.
