[Side 1] Jack talks about haymaking, cutting clover at 'backend' [= late autumn], discusses farm sizes and farm horses, compares agricultural practice now and in past, remembers father mowing by hand and delivering his 'lowance' [= snack, lunchbox] as child. [Side 2] Jack explains how to 'sharp' [= sharpen] scythe with 'strickle' [= tool for sharpening blade] and mixture of sand and tallow, describes traditional method of haymaking from cutting, raking, shaking, making 'lap-cock' [= small pile of hay], 'fork-cock' [= medium-sized pile of hay] and 'pike' [= large pile of hay], recalls long hours in past, working with horses, mentions foreman and aunt supplied beer during day.
