[Side 1] Madge describes how to make butter, 'ken' [= churn] cream, warm overnight in front of fire, add cold water, ken again to remove buttermilk, place on board to add salt, weigh into pounds and wrap in 'clout' [= cloth] ready for market. [Side 2] Madge describes how to bake bread, knead mixture of flour, yeast, sugar and warm water, cover with 'clout' [= cloth] and stand in front of fire, place baking tins in 'yewn' [= oven], check every twenty minutes, describes how to bake 'spice bread' [= plum cake].
