[Side 1] Horace talks about motorcycling incident and encounter with local policeman, discusses work at pit, started aged 12, describes method of ventilation in mine, incl. 'intake' [= shaft through which air is introduced into mine] and 'return' [= shaft for carrying air out of mine]. [Side 2] Horace talks about issue of water & gas in mines, discusses mining techniques, compares value of training with practical work experience, describes underground roadways and use of pit props, explains placement of bore holes for blasting and use of differnt types of detonator.
