"17. Sarton." Painting includes legend: "My bed, Sarton 12/8/16, Capt. King's room." On reverse: "17. My bed on left. Box underneath was necessary to support the bulge of one's anatomy. Capt. King mentioned killed a month later. Billet owner complained that our predecessors had shot his pigeons for pies and compensated him at rate of one tin of bully per person."
