Description:
Pictorial 18th century engraved trade card of Thomas Silk. Royal Coat of Arms of the United Kingdom with floral decoration and motto 'Dieu et mon droit' at top of card, with window bearing venetian blinds below. Trader details in a variety of typefaces with decorative flourishes. Print marks visible, framing uncut card. Manuscript ink note 'Silk cabinet maker £22.15' dated 16th Jul 1774 on front of card, with Henry Ellison Esq bill for mock bamboo elbow chairs on reverse and date of receipt 29th September 1774, signed by Thomas Silk.
Transcription: Thomas Silk, Cabinet Maker, Upholder, & Appraifer [Apraiser], at No 4 next door to the Queens Arms Tavern, St Pauls Church Yard, London. NB. Funerals Furnifh'd [Furnished]. Sherborn sculp. Gutter Lane.
